About Tucson, Arizona 

    

Tucson (pronounced too-sawn), with almost a million inhabitants, has been southern Arizona's leading city for over two hundred years.

It spreads across a mountain-ranged basin at the northern limits of the Sonoran Desert. Tucson embraces rather than denies the desert, eschewing lawns and fountains in favor of the authentic landscapes of Sabino Canyon, the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum, and the cactus-strewn hillsides of Saguaro National Park. Tucson is home of The University of Arizona, which enrolls almost 40,000 students.

Climate

The town is situated at an elevation of 2389 feet (790 meters) above sea level. Average daily maximum and minimum temperatures in October are 84 F (+29 C) and 57 F (14 C), respectively.
